# Virals: West Ham ‘interested’ in PSG outcast Gini Wijnaldum

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/25/virals-west-ham-confirm-successful-surgery-for-vladimir-coufal/) are reportedly ‘interested’ in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Gini Wijnaldum.

The 31-year-old joined the Parisian giants in 2021 following a [trophy-laden](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/erfolge/spieler/49499) five-year spell at Liverpool.

However, just months after arriving in the French capital, Wijnaldum is believed to be open to an exit having [struggled](https://www.sofascore.com/player/georginio-wijnaldum/22126) for regular minutes.

According to a report from [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/wijnaldum-bombazo-atletico-madrid-20220223.html), the Hammers, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all keen on the Dutch star.

The report claims that the [85-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/nationalmannschaft/spieler/49499/verein_id/3379) ace ‘does not have the confidence’ of Mauricio Pochettino and a move in the summer could be the best solution.

Wijnaldum has made [217 Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/49499) during spells at Newcastle and Liverpool, including a particularly [impressive outing](https://twitter.com/LFC/status/1255557963554512896) against the Irons in 2020.

This season the energetic midfielder once hailed as [‘sensational’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9604509/Jurgen-Klopp-praises-sensational-committed-Gini-Wijnaldum-amid-potential-final-Liverpool-tie.html) by Jurgen Klopp has [scored three times and registered two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdaten/spieler/49499) in 27 outings across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and under contract in France until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/marktwertverlauf/spieler/49499)), signing the Dutchman would still require a hefty fee.

However, with the impending retirement of Mark Noble on the horizon, bringing a player of Wijnaldum’s [quality and experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georginio-wijnaldum/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/49499) would be a huge coup for David Moyes.

At the right price and with a [reduction in salary](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/psg-sign-georginio-wijnaldum-through-2024-after-spending-the-last-five-years-at-liverpool/#:~:text=Wijnaldum%2C%2030%2C%20is%20currently%20with,million%20per%20year%20with%20PSG.&text=%22Signing%20for%20PSG%20is%20a,for%20me%2C%22%20said%20Wijnaldum.) likely, this would be a no-brainer for West Ham this summer.
