# Virals: West Ham ‘ready’ to bid for Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/24/virals-west-ham-bewitched-by-ogc-nice-star-amine-gouri/) are reportedly ‘ready’ to make a summer swoop for Bayer Leverkusen star [Patrik Schick](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/19/pundit-urges-west-ham-to-spend-good-money-on-patrik-schick/).

The 26-year-old striker has been [linked](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1476172390828752898) with the Hammers previously and it would appear that new investor Daniel Kretinsky is also an admirer.

According to a report from [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/kretinsky-could-bankroll-huge-striker-bid/), Kretinsky is ‘ready to plunge funds’ into an attempt to land the Czech Republic international.

The report claims that the compatriot of Schick is a ‘big fan’ of the [33-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrik-schick/nationalmannschaft/spieler/242086/verein_id/3445) ace and a ‘potential swoop’ could be forthcoming.

This season the powerful frontman – described as a [‘genius’](https://www.thedailystar.net/sports/football/news/patrik-schick-outcast-turned-scoring-genius-2112701) by Jaroslav Silhavy – has [scored 20 times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrik-schick/leistungsdaten/spieler/242086) in 20 Bundesliga outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £36million and under contract in Germany until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrik-schick/marktwertverlauf/spieler/242086)), signing Schick would be no cheap solution to a long-running striker issue in East London.

However, already a [seasoned performer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrik-schick/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/242086) at the top level the Czech ace would be ready-made to adapt to life in the Premier League – unlike previous incumbents.

[Strong](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/243565/Show/Patrik-Schick) in front of goal and aerially, David Moyes would jump at the chance to add Schick to the squad should Kretinsky offer up the finances.
