# Virals: West Ham ‘monitoring’ EPL centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/24/virals-west-ham-bewitched-by-ogc-nice-star-amine-gouri/) are reportedly ‘monitoring’ Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The 24-year-old has been enjoying a [superb loan spell](https://www.sofascore.com/player/cameron-carter-vickers/795972) at Celtic this season and has helped guide the Hoops to the summit of the Scottish Premiership.

That form has led to the Glasgow club negotiating an option-to-buy clause with Tottenham which is [believed to be worth](https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/cameron-carter-vickers-transfer-demand-spurs-loan-star-west-ham-premier-league-quintet-celtic) more than £10million.

That’s according to a report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/tottenham-hotspur/cameron-carter-vickers-transfer-demand-spurs-loan-star-west-ham-premier-league-quintet-celtic), as cited by [Hotspurs News Alerts](https://twitter.com/AlertsHotspur) on Twitter.

The report claims that Leicester, Wolves, Burnley and Watford are also keen on the [eight-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/nationalmannschaft/spieler/341049/verein_id/3505) USA international.

This season Carter-Vickers – described as being [‘mature beyond his years’](https://tothelaneandback.com/2021/10/22/celtic-manager-ange-postecoglou-praises-tottenham-hotspur-loanee-cameron-carter-vickers/) by Ange Postecogolou – has earned an impressive [7.36 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/cameron-carter-vickers/795972) from 22 Scottish top-flight outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valved at £2.7million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/marktwertverlauf/spieler/341049)), signing the Southend-born ace for the mooted fee of around £10million would be shrewd business.

Predominantly a centre-back but also [capable of playing on either side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/341049) as a full-back, Carter-Vickers would offer much-needed strength in depth to David Moyes’ defensive department.

[Comfortable on the ball](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/301029/Show/Cameron-Carter-Vickers) and with strong base fundamentals as a defender, it’s clear to see why the Hammers and others would be interested in the Celtic loan star.

As the sidelined Angelo Ogbonna faces an [uncertain future](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/players/ogbonna-contract-west-ham-liverpool-22128571), could Carter-Vickers be the man to fill the void?
