# Virals: West Ham linked with Red Bull Salzburg ace Rasmus Kristensen

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/16/virals-west-ham-have-joined-the-chase-to-sign-efl-star-lewis-obrien/) have once again been linked with a move for Red Bull Salzburg defender Rasmus Kristensen.

The 24-year-old full-back was originally [indexed to the Hammers](https://www.ligaportal.at/bundesliga/allgemein-news/6158-salzburg-verteidiger-rasmus-kristensen-im-visier-von-west-ham-united) in January 2020 but the move failed to materialise.

David Moyes then opted to [sign Vladimir Coufal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54383255) that summer but it would appear that the Danish international hasn’t left the radar in East London.

According to a report from the latest print edition of [SportBild](https://sportbild.bild.de/) (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-united-picture-signing-right-back-goal-threat-e13m-market-value/)), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1493901335271456782), the Irons are considering another swoop for Kristensen.

The report claims that Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund, AS Roma and VfL Wolfsburg are also keen on the [twice-capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rasmus-kristensen/nationalmannschaft/spieler/369684/verein_id/3436) Denmark ace.

This season Kristensen – hailed as an [‘absolute leader’](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-united-picture-signing-right-back-goal-threat-e13m-market-value/) by Matthias Jaissle – has [scored nine times and provided seven assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rasmus-kristensen/leistungsdaten/spieler/369684) in 31 appearances from right-back.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £11.7million and under contract in Austria until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rasmus-kristensen/marktwertverlauf/spieler/369684)), signing the attack-minded defender would be an expensive venture for the Hammers.

Despite currently [boasting](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) Ryan Fredericks, Ben Johnson and Coufal at right-back, both Englishmen are out of contract at the end of this season.

Add to that an apparent [dip in form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/vladimir-coufal/138024) from the 29-year-old Cezch star this season and David Moyes has a problem position.

Seemingly ready to take the [next step](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rasmus-kristensen/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/369684) in a promising career, Kristensen looks to be the ideal candidate to bolster Moyes’ ranks.
