# Virals: West Ham interested in AFCON star Vincent Aboubakar

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/07/tony-cascarino-full-of-praise-for-superb-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) are reportedly interested in Al-Nassr FC striker [Vincent Aboubakar](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/hammers-invite-vincent-aboubakar-agent-london-transfer-talks/).

The Hammers continue to be linked with a host of frontmen having failed to land [adequate support](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) for Michail Antonio during the January transfer window.

Following a superb Africa Cup of Nations, 30-year-old Cameroon ace Aboubakar has once again been [linked with a switch](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ/status/1384923835649175556) to the Hammers following previous interest in 2021.

> Vincent Aboubakar has agreed a deal to join West Ham United on a free transfer this summer, according to various reports in Turkey.[#WHUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/WHUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#COYI](https://twitter.com/hashtag/COYI?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [pic.twitter.com/DfpiLAqaIl](https://t.co/DfpiLAqaIl)

According to a report from Spanish outlet [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/clubes-premier-league-siguen-hombre-record-copa-africa-vincent-aboubakar-west-ham-united-leicester-city-20220206.html), West Ham and Leicester City are considering a summer swoop.

The report claims that the Irons see the [82-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vincent-aboubakar/nationalmannschaft/spieler/147487/verein_id/3434) veteran as a ‘good opportunity’ to bolster the attacking ranks at a cut-price fee.

Aboubakar finished the recent AFCON as the [tournament’s top marksman](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vincent-aboubakar/erfolge/spieler/147487) with eight goals in seven matches.

Domestically the former FC Porto man has [scored five times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vincent-aboubakar/leistungsdaten/spieler/147487) in 15 appearances in the Professional League.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £8.10million and under contract in Saudi Arabia until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vincent-aboubakar/marktwertverlauf/spieler/147487)), the Cameroonian would be a ‘much cheaper’ alternative to Benfica star Darwin Nunez.

Albeit a player perhaps beyond the development stage as a striker, Aboubakar’s [stunning AFCON form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/vincent-aboubakar/116869) has raised the question of whether there is one last big move in the ace.

Despite possessing an [array of suitable attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/86743/Show/Vincent-Aboubakar) to suit Moyes’ side, signing a player already with [332 career appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vincent-aboubakar/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/147487) already under his belt may not be the shrewdest long-term move.
