# Virals: West Ham ‘eyeing’ Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/07/virals-west-ham-interested-in-afcon-star-vincent-aboubakar/) are reportedly ‘eyeing’ a move for Middlesbrough central defender [Dael Fry](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/06/virals-west-ham-keeping-track-of-middlesbrough-ace-dael-fry/).

Despite [failing to strengthen the ranks](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) in the January window the Hammers are expected to add to the squad in the summer.

One man previously [linked](https://twitter.com/FootballLeagueW/status/1458361549999980546) with a move to the Hammers and seemingly still on the radar is the 24-year-old centre-back, Fry.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £5.4million and under contract at the Riverside Stadium until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dael-fry/marktwertverlauf/spieler/314140)), Boro’ may need to cash in on their man at the end of the season.

Currently sat [one place outside the playoffs](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/championship/table) in the second tier, perhaps the only way of keeping their key man would be by earning promotion to the top-flight.

Powerful in the air and boasting [194 career appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dael-fry/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/314140), Fry represents the ideal balance between youth and experience to bolster David Moyes’ options as well as adding to the homegrown requirements.
