# Virals: John Terry suggests EPL clubs should consider West Ham linked star

Former Chelsea defender John Terry has suggested Premier League clubs should consider a move for free agent striker [Diego Costa](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/01/jason-burt-claims-west-ham-offered-the-chance-to-sign-diego-costa/).

The 33-year-old is without a club having been [released](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/transfers/spieler/44779) from a spell at Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro recently.

Previously [linked with a move](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/transfer-news/west-ham-diego-costa-transfer-19747926) to [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/03/gabby-agbonlahor-doubles-down-on-west-ham-top-four-claim/), the East London club are in need of attacking reinforcement having failed to sign a frontman in the January window.

Aware of his ex-teammates ability and situation, Terry took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/JohnTerry26/status/1488551301126500356) to suggest top-flight clubs would be wise to take a closer look at the feisty ace.

> I can’t believe [@diegocosta](https://twitter.com/diegocosta?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) hasn’t been signed by a premier league club ? \

Born in Brazil, Costa represented Spain at the senior international level on [24 occasions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/nationalmannschaft/spieler/44779/verein_id/3375), scoring on 10 occasions.

Prior to becoming a free agent, the man once described as [‘very strong’](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/742637/Thibaut-Courtois-heaps-praise-Diego-Costa-Chelsea-news-gossip) by Courtois [scored five times and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/44779) in 19 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Still holding a market value of £4.1million despite being unattached ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/marktwertverlauf/spieler/44779)), it’s clear to see the powerful frontman still has the quality to offer a service to any top club.

Boasting a [trophy and goal-laden career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/erfolge/spieler/44779), Costa would certainly bring additional know-how and experience to the West Ham dressing room.

Perhaps the biggest concern for David Moyes would be a potentially adverse effect on the harmony the [52 Premier League goal man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-costa/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/44779) could bring.

For free on a short-term contract until the end of the season, if it was to bolster the Irons’ [hopes of glory](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) this term, it’s somewhat of a no-brainer.
