# Virals: West Ham ‘showed interest’ in PSG star Layvin Kurzawa

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/02/02/agent-says-west-ham-move-for-sparta-prague-ace-david-hancko-is-obvious/) are reportedly the ‘only club’ to show an interest in signing Paris Saint-Germain full-back [Layvin Kurzawa](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/31/virals-west-ham-have-shown-interest-in-psg-outcast-lavyin-kurzawa/) during the recently closed January window.

The Hammers have been [extensively linked](https://www.football-news365.co.uk/go/84472655) with the 29-year-old left-back for some time now and were tipped to make a move during the mid-season market.

No such swoop was forthcoming, however, as [West Ham remained quiet](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) despite seemingly having a free-run at the Frenchman.

According to a report from [L’Equipe](https://www.lequipe.fr/), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1488853728253853698) on Twitter, the Irons were the only suitors in the frame.

The report claims that West Ham ‘showed interest’ in the [13-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/layvin-kurzawa/nationalmannschaft/spieler/126710/verein_id/3377) France ace before Kurzawa was offered to Ligue 1 clubs Bordeaux and Lille.

So far this season the man cast aside by Mauricio Pochettino has made just [one appearance](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/layvin-kurzawa/leistungsdaten/spieler/126710) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Despite falling someway down the pecking order in the French capital, Kurzawa still holds a market value of £8.1million and a contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/layvin-kurzawa/marktwertverlauf/spieler/126710)).

Whilst it would appear the [attack-minded full-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/layvin-kurzawa/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/126710) was available, perhaps the finances required to sign a player who would be an understudy to Aaron Cresswell put the Hammers off the deal.

Albeit a [serial trophy winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/layvin-kurzawa/erfolge/spieler/126710), the lack of recent football would also be of concern to David Moyes as well as Kurzawa’s age.
