# Virals: West Ham fans react to ‘shock enquiry’ for ace Leandro Trossard

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/31/virls-west-ham-launch-bid-to-sign-benfica-star-darwin-nunez/) have well and truly stirred into life at the back end of the January transfer window having previously seemingly been inactive.

The Hammers were expected to sign a central defender and a striker as a minimum but have so far [failed to make any additions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379) to the squad.

However, following surprise links to a [double raid on Leeds United](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jan/29/west-ham-leeds-reject-raphinha-bid) for Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, another Premier League ace is reportedly on the radar.

According to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-west-ham-make-contact-over-signing-brighton-star-leandro-trossard/) and [Pete O’Rourke](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO) on Twitter, the Irons are set to make a ‘shock enquiry’ to sign Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard.

Perhaps unsurprisingly this has [caused a stir](https://twitter.com/SportsPeteO/status/1487745583859314694) amongst the fanbase and plenty gave their opinion on social media.

This season Trossard – hailed as [‘magnificent’](https://www.sussexlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-shearer-brighton-yves-bissouma-5905866) by Alan Shearer – has [scored four times and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leandro-trossard/leistungsdaten/spieler/144028) in 21 league outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £15.3million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leandro-trossard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/144028)), signing the Belgian could become a realistic possibility in the not too distant future.

However, given the [late nature](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60111057) of the interest, it’s highly unlikely that this move could be finalised in this window.

Already an experienced operator at the top level and holding an array of impressive [attacking attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/113994/Show/Leandro-Trossard), Trossard is certainly a player that would bolster Moyes’ options.

One to revisit in the summer…
