# Virals: EPL club have ‘made an offer’ for West Ham defender Issa Diop

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/31/virals-west-ham-could-sign-crystal-palace-star-christian-benteke/) defender [Issa Diop](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/28/virals-epl-club-enter-new-talks-over-issa-diop-departure/) has reportedly been the subject of further interest from Newcastle United.

The 25-year-old has been an integral part of David Moyes’ side in recent months following [injuries to Kurt Zouma](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-team-news-kurt-zouma-leeds-b976726.html) and Angelo Ogbonna.

However, as Zouma returns and should the Irons make a signing before the [deadline](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1558310/Transfer-News-LIVE-Blog-Premier-League-Arsenal-Liverpool-Newcastle-Tottenham-Man-Utd-news), it’s likely that the Frenchman will return to a watching brief.

According to a report from [RMC Sport](https://rmcsport.bfmtv.com/football/transferts/mercato-en-direct-toutes-les-infos-et-rumeurs-de-la-derniere-journee_LN-202201310009.html), as cited by [Actu Foot](https://twitter.com/ActuFoot_) on Twitter, Newcastle have submitted an official offer for Diop.

The report claims that the North East club have ‘set its sights’ on the [six-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/nationalmannschaft/spieler/272622/verein_id/9323) France Under 21 international.

This season Diop has made 17 appearances across all competitions – earning a [6.59 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/issa-diop/825719) in eight Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £10.8million and under contract at the London Stadium until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272622)), signing the Frenchman in the not too distant future would be a smart move from the Hammers.

Despite showing early signs of promise when arriving from Toulouse, Diop has struggled to [fully adapt to a consistent level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/issa-diop/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272622) in the top-flight.

However, the mooted £6.6million bid and having already allowed [Frederik Alves to leave the club](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2022/january/31-january/frederik-alves-joins-brondby-if) for Brondby IF, it’s unlikely the club would sanction this sale without a signing.
