# Virals: West Ham to ‘test resolve’ of Leeds United for Raphinha

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/28/pundit-backs-west-ham-pursuit-of-powerful-armando-broja/) will reportedly ‘test the resolve’ of Leeds United in a move for [Raphinha](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/22/pundit-believes-raphinha-would-struggle-to-reject-massive-liverpool-move/) before the transfer deadline passes.

The Hammers are in search of additional attacking options and the 25-year-old has been amongst the [in-form players](https://www.sofascore.com/player/raphinha/831005) in the Premier League over the last 18 months.

Signed for £17million from Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2020 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54415316)), the right-winger has [contributed directly to 25 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/411295) in 51 outings for Leeds.

According to a report from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/west-ham-interested-in-late-swoop-for-leeds-winger-raphinha), as cited by [Toby Cudworth](https://twitter.com/Toby_Cudworth) on Twitter, the Irons are keen on making a late swoop for the Brazilian.

> Will take a substantial offer for [#LUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/LUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) to entertain any kind of deal but have learned that West Ham are interested & may test their resolve.

The report claims that a ‘bid could be made’ before the deadline for the [five-times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/nationalmannschaft/spieler/411295/verein_id/3439) Brazil star.

This season Raphinha – described as [‘phenomenal’](https://www.skysports.com/jermaine-beckford) by Jermaine Beckford – has [scored eight times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdaten/spieler/411295) in 19 league appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £36million and under contract at Elland Road until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/marktwertverlauf/spieler/411295)), this would be an expensive transfer for the east London club.

Despite being a hugely talented player who has taken to English football with apparent ease, Raphinha’s [favoured role](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/411295) coincides directly with that of West Ham standout Jarrod Bowen.

Unless the Hammers are planning a late departure for their English ace – with Liverpool reportedly [keen on both Bowen and Raphinha](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10346455/Liverpool-continue-assess-Jarrod-Bowen-Raphinha-potential-summer-signings.html)previously – this is a deal that remains highly unlikely to happen in this window at least.

Whilst the Irons would be an attractive proposition to the Brazilian with the prospect of [European football this season](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) and next, it would appear to be a non-starter.
