# Virals: West Ham named among suitors for Liverpool ace Nat Phillips

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/27/virals-west-ham-interested-in-nottingham-forest-defender-joe-worrall/) have once again been named among the clubs keen on signing Liverpool defender [Nat Phillips](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/19/virals-west-ham-are-long-term-admirers-of-liverpool-defender-nat-phillips/).

The Hammers are expected to make a late move for a centre-back as David Moyes attempts to find [cover](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) for a sidelined Angelo Ogbonna.

Phillips has been [perennially linked](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-recall-williams-swansea-loan-phillips-january/blte3b40e27b2373270) with a move to the London Stadium and it would appear that the interest hasn’t yet subsided.

According to a report from [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/liverpool-premier-league-newcastle-champions-league-reading-b2001245.html?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1643216397), as cited by [West Ham Fan Zon](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ/status/1486592399191285760)e on Twitter, the Irons could still make a swoop for the 24-year-old.

The report claims that both Newcastle United and Watford are also considering the Englishman as they attempt to [stave off the threat](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) of relegation.

This season Phillips – who was hailed as [‘absolutely insane’](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/434196-nat-phillips-and-rhys-williams-have-created-proper-careers-now) by Jurgen Klopp last season – has made [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814) across all competitions.

With links to the likes of Marseille ace Duje Caleta-Car and [Schalke youngster Malick Thiaw](https://www.sport1.de/news/fussball/2-bundesliga/2022/01/milan-will-schalkes-leistungstrager-malick-thiaw-intensive-gesprache-laufen) circulating, it seems the pursuit of a defender could go on up until deadline day.

However, in terms of a [readymade Premier League operator](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/371814), neither of those other contenders can compare to the Liverpool man.

Albeit only a short exposure to the elite level and a prompt return to a watching brief has followed, the [£7.2million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814) Phillips was sensational last season and would no doubt slot seamlessly into Moyes’ plans.
