# Virals: Jesse Lingard ‘hoping’ West Ham make loan move

Manchester United attacking midfielder [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/07/alex-crook-claims-west-ham-move-for-jesse-lingard-is-inevitable/) is reportedly ‘hoping’ [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/24/virals-west-ham-line-up-move-for-epl-loan-sensation-armando-broja/) make a loan move for his services before the transfer deadline passes.

The 29-year-old spent a [successful spell](https://www.sofascore.com/player/jesse-lingard/205508) at the London Stadium last season and was widely expected to make a permanent switch to east London.

However, the England international [opted to stay at Old Trafford](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-jesse-lingard-news-21614483) and as a result, has struggled once again for regular match action.

According to a report from [ESPN](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/4577976/january-transfer-window-anthony-martialpierre-emerick-aubameyangantonio-rudiger-among-players-who-could-move), as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_) on Twitter, Lingard hasn’t given up on the idea of making a comeback to the Hammers.

The report claims that Manchester United are ‘keen to negotiate a permanent transfer’ for the [32-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) ace and are ‘reluctant’ to sanction a loan deal to a top-four chasing rival.

This season Lingard has [scored twice and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) in 14 fleeting appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £18millon and out of contract at the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/141660)), there is certainly scope to land a high-quality operator at a bargain price.

Having [signed Nikola Vlasic](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/august/31-august/west-ham-united-sign-croatia-international-attacker-nikola) on a five-year deal – seemingly as an alternative – it seems farfetched that David Moyes would pursue another attacking midfielder.

Unfortunately, it would appear the [love affair that was](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11096/12273193/jesse-lingard-in-scintillating-form-at-west-ham-after-loan-from-man-utd) will be resigned to that brief spell in early 2020.
