# Virals: West Ham ‘interested in signing’ Burnley ace James Tarkowski

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/20/virals-west-ham-want-chelsea-centre-back-malang-sarr/) are reportedly ‘interested in signing’ Burnley central defender [James Tarkowski](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/30/virals-burnley-to-reject-all-offers-for-west-ham-target-james-tarkowski/).

In a return of the link that [dominated](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/12073840/james-tarkowski-west-ham-have-third-bid-rejected-for-burnley-defender) much of 2020, the Hammers are once again being tipped to make a move for the 29-year-old this summer.

[Out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/profil/spieler/173504) at the end of the season, Tarkowski is believed to be holding off making any decision on his future.

According to a report from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/west-ham-interested-in-signing-james-tarkowski-on-free-transfer), as cited by [Toby Cudworth](https://twitter.com/Toby_Cudworth) on Twitter, that has alerted the Irons.

The report claims that David Moyes is ‘keen to bring’ the [twice-capped England ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/nationalmannschaft/spieler/173504/verein_id/3299) to the London Stadium as a free agent.

This season Tarkowski – hailed as [‘outstanding’](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/15259045.sean-dyche-hails-outstanding-james-tarkowski-battle-places-burnley-side-hots/) by manager Sean Dyche – has [scored once and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/leistungsdaten/spieler/173504) in 16 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

At present Burnely are facing the very real threat of relegation from the top flight – even more so having [sold their main goal threat](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-new-details-emerge-on-wood-move-to-newcastle-united/) to Newcastle United.

That could see the [£19.8million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/marktwertverlauf/spieler/173504) Tarkowski allow his deal to expire, perhaps making way for West Ham to strike.

Albeit the Irons are [in need of defensive reinforcements](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) this month, both Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna will need replacing long-term and the Englishman looks to fit that bill.

Boasting [vast Premier League experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/173504) solid defensive attributes, Tarkowski looks tailormade to bolster Moyes’ options.
