# Virals: West Ham place Ben Brereton Diaz ‘top’ of transfer targets

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/19/virals-west-ham-are-long-term-admirers-of-liverpool-defender-nat-phillips/) have reportedly placed Blackburn Rovers striker [Ben Brereton Diaz](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/16/alex-crook-claims-west-ham-are-interested-in-ben-brereton-diaz/) at the ‘top’ of their January wishlist.

The Hammers have been linked with the 22-year-old previously as David Moyes goes in search of a [frontman to support](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) Michail Antonio.

> Rumour: David Moyes is reportedly pushing hard to secure the signing of Chile forward Ben Brereton Díaz this month as he looks to cement West Ham’s push for fourth.[#WHUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/WHUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#WHU](https://twitter.com/hashtag/WHU?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#COYI](https://twitter.com/hashtag/COYI?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) ⚒️🤔 [pic.twitter.com/Ej4Gg3zk8d](https://t.co/Ej4Gg3zk8d)

Now it’s believed that the Scot has singled out the Chile international as the main priority with [11 days remaining](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12489807/january-transfer-window-2022-when-does-it-open-and-close-dates-deadline-day-how-to-follow-with-sky-sports) in the transfer window.

That’s according to a report from the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1552558/West-Ham-two-signings-25m-Ben-Brereton-Diaz-Blackburn-Nat-Philipps-Liverpool-transfer-news) which claims that Leeds United and Sevilla have also shown an interest in the ace.

The report states that Moyes has ‘singled out’ the [nine-cap Chile man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/nationalmannschaft/spieler/426192/verein_id/3700) despite playoff-chasing Rovers being ‘unwilling’ to sell their prized asset.

This season Brereton Diaz – who was also capped at youth level by England – has notched [20 goals and one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/leistungsdaten/spieler/426192) in 27 Championship appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £9million and under contract at Ewood Park until the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/marktwertverlauf/spieler/426192)), it’s perhaps of little surprise that previous suitors have been put off by a lofty £25million price tag.

Albeit the Lancashire club does have the option of a one-year extension on the star striker, paying such a fee for an [unproven top-flight operator](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-brereton-diaz/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/426192) would be a risk.

Enjoying a purple patch in front of goal and capable of [playing in wide positions](https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/player-analysis-ben-brereton-diaz/), Moyes should remain attentive to the situation but perhaps wait for a lower valuation.
