# Virals: West Ham are ‘long-term admirers’ of Liverpool defender Nat Phillips

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/19/west-ham-fans-fear-for-future-of-jarrod-bowen-following-update/) have been billed as ‘long-term admirers’ of Liverpool defender [Nat Phillips](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/14/virals-journalist-claims-nat-phillips-is-still-on-the-agenda-at-west-ham/).

The 24-year-old looks almost certain to leave Anfield during the January transfer window after the Merseyside club [recalled](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-transfers-rhys-williams-phillips-25988371) centre-back, Rhys Williams, from a loan at Swansea City.

Continuous linked with the Hammers, David Moyes’ [search for a defensive](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10288835/West-Ham-David-Moyes-confirms-transfer-priority-new-defender-Zouma-Ogbonna-injuries.html) addition may be set to heat up.

According to a report from [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/liverpool-recall-williams-swansea-loan-phillips-january/blte3b40e27b2373270), as cited by [Neil Jones](https://twitter.com/neiljonesgoal)on Twitter, the Irons remain in the frame to land Phillips.

The report claims that West Ham, Burnley, Napoli, Watford and unnamed Bundesliga clubs are keen on the [former VfB Stuttgart](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/transfers/spieler/371814) loanee.

Dutch Eredivisie table-toppers PSV Eindhoven also [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-psv-make-approach-for-phillips-as-liverpool-asking-price-revealed/) made their approach for the no-nonsense ace recently.

This season Phillips has made just [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814) across all competitions having [featured 20 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814/plus/0?saison=2020) in 2020/21.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £7.2million and under contract until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814)), the report states that Liverpool are ‘keen for a straight sale’ of their man following a loan bid from Watford.

That would mean that the Hammers would have to get close to a [mooted £15million asking price](https://theathletic.com/news/liverpool-want-15m-to-sell-nat-phillips-in-january-with-premier-league-sides-interested/cgsJL00zCnBv/) in order to make the deal happen.

Undoubtedly in need of a centre-back to cover for Angelo Ogbonna and beyond, Phillips’ [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/371814), style and fee make the Englishman a perfectly viable option to bolster Moyes’ squad.
