# West Ham fans divided on links to Aston Villa star Kortney Hause

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/16/west-ham-fans-slam-truly-woeful-issa-diop-performance/) have reportedly held preliminary talks with Aston Villa regarding centre-back [Kortney Hause](https://www.givemesport.com/1769059-aston-villa-team-news-45m-stars-shirt-to-lose-after-unexpected-dean-smith-decision).

The 26-year-old began life as a Hammer before [leaving the club’s academy](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/transfers/spieler/233124) in 2011 for Birmingham City.

Now some 11 years later the Irons are interested in bringing the ace back to East London according to a report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hause-keen-to-re-join-west-ham-this-month-after-preliminary-talks-held/).

The report claims that the [London-born defender](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/profil/spieler/233124) is ‘keen’ on the switch and West Ham are ‘weighing up a bid’ in the January transfer window.

Unsurprisingly many Hammers have taken to [social media](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1482293840602140676) to give their initial reactions to the links.

This season Hause has earned a [6.82 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/kortney-hause/255189) from six Premier League appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £4.5million and out of contract at Villa Park at the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/marktwertverlauf/spieler/233124)), there is certainly an opportunity to land a bargain.

However, having amassed a career-high 18 top-flight outings in 2019/20, it would appear the [ex-England Under 21 starlet](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/nationalmannschaft/spieler/233124/verein_id/9565) has fallen down the pecking order in the Midlands once again.

Despite making a professional debut almost 10 years ago, the fact Hause has only managed [195 senior appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kortney-hause/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/233124) may point to a wider issue.

David Moyes is right to be seeking out [defensive reinforcements](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad), but perhaps the search should go on…
