# Virals: West Ham ‘closely monitoring’ RC Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/14/virals-west-ham-in-pole-to-sign-marseille-star-boubacar-kamara/) are reported to be ‘closely monitoring’ RC Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque.

The Hammers are believed to be seeking attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window in order to offer much-needed support to [Michail Antonio](https://www.givemesport.com/1809622-john-cena-michail-antonio-compares-himself-to-wwe-legend-after-flooring-watfords-sierralta).

Somewhat of a [late bloomer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ludovic-ajorque/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/283994), the 27-year-old Frenchman is the latest name tipped to make the move to the London Stadium.

That’s according to a report from French outlet [Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a4759472329865199342-west-ham-suit-ludovic-ajorque), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00) on Twitter.

The report claims that the Irons are ‘attentively following’ the 6’4 ace who has earned an impressive [7.30 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ludovic-ajorque/343971) from 18 Ligue 1 outings this season.

Described as a ‘pure target man’ by [Getfootballnewsfrance](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/feature-ligue-1s-deadliest-duo-habib-diallo-ludovic-ajorque/), Ajorque has [scored 10 times and provided six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ludovic-ajorque/leistungsdaten/spieler/283994) in the league in 2021/22.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £13.5million and under contract in France until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ludovic-ajorque/marktwertverlauf/spieler/283994)), it’s deemed ‘unlikely’ that Strasbourg would sell their star in the mid-season window.

Unsurprisingly many of the towering frontman’s strengths like aerially, however, the former Clermont Foot ace also possesses [strong finishing](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/234364/Show/Ludovic-Ajorque) and defensive contribution.

Whilst this may not be deemed a direct likeness to Antonio, Ajorque certainly offers a [very real threat](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ludovic-ajorque/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/283994) and perhaps more importantly, a very affordable option.
