# Virals: West Ham ‘interested’ in AS Monaco star Aleksandr Golovin

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/11/virals-west-ham-have-offered-13m-for-stade-reims-striker-hugo-ekitike/) are reportedly ‘interested’ in signing AS Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

The Hammers are believed to have sounded out the 25-year-old as [David Moyes](https://www.givemesport.com/1808418-west-ham-transfer-news-moyes-is-shopping-at-the-top-end-of-the-transfer-market) looks to bolster the ranks at the London Stadium.

Despite the apparent [need for reinforcements](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) in defence and attack, the Irons continued to be linked with numerous midfielders.

According to a report from [RB Sport](https://bookmaker-ratings.ru/news/vest-he-m-interesuetsya-goloviny-m/), as cited by [Mundo Mónaco](https://twitter.com/MundoMonaco/status/1480875016698875908) on Twitter, the East London club are keen on the Russian ace.

The report claims that West Ham have begun ‘consultations and collecting information’ on a potential deal for the [45-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandr-golovin/nationalmannschaft/spieler/263918/verein_id/3448) international.

This season Golovin – described as a [‘playmaker’](https://metro.co.uk/2018/06/14/jose-mourinho-praises-aleksandr-golovin-dominant-world-cup-display-russia-7632388/) by an impressed Jose Mourinho – has [scored three times and provided five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandr-golovin/leistungsdaten/spieler/263918) in 23 appearances across all competitions.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract in France until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandr-golovin/marktwertverlauf/spieler/263918)), any move for the Russian would likely be an expensive outlay for the Hammers.

Named [player of the year in 2017/18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandr-golovin/erfolge/spieler/263918) for CSKA Moscow, Golovin has the pedigree to succeed in the Premier League.

Capable of operating in a variety of roles and boasting a [vast range](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/244560/Show/Aleksandr-Golovin) of strong attributes, should Moyes want the player it’s difficult to rail against previous judgement calls.

Already a [vastly experienced](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aleksandr-golovin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/263918) operator, whilst it may not be the priority in terms of position, the club would certainly be adding a high-quality attacking option to the squad.
