# Pundit tips West Ham to earn FA Cup fourth round place

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/08/virals-west-ham-leading-the-race-to-sign-marseille-forward-bamba-dieng/) face Leeds United in the FA Cup third round and will be hoping to progress beyond the stage for a fifth consecutive season.

Last season the Hammers were [eliminated in the fifth round](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3517364) by Manchester United after extra time.

This term David Moyes will be keen to go further again as the Irons continue their [upwards trajectory](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/march/07-march/david-moyes-transformation-year-ago-now-great) as a side.

Writing in his [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59863340) prediction column, Mark Lawrenson has tipped West Ham to have too much for their Premier League visitors.

> West Ham and Leeds meet again in the Premier League next week. I am guessing they will both make changes for this one and, although the Hammers need to add to their squad this month, I would still say they have more depth than Leeds right now.

Lawrenson backed the hosts to prevail 2-0.

Earlier this season it was Moyes’ men who prevailed [2-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58606477) following an enthralling clash at Elland Road.

For this contest at the London Stadium, the likes of Nikola Vlasic, Mark Noble and Alex Kral could feature as the Scottish manager [warns against](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2022/january/07-january/it-happened-david-moyes-pre-leeds-united-press-conference) fixture pile-up.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Both sides have been stretched in recent weeks, perhaps [Leeds more than most](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/29249/leeds-united-v-aston-villa-postponed) in the country.

That will likely lead to changes and possibly chances in an [all-top flight](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) encounter.

Albeit not the top priority in East London this term, the Hammers will be [desperate for silverware](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-david-moyes-premier-league-b1951516.html) in any format and the FA Cup presents a viable opportunity.
