# Virals: West Ham target Jesse Lingard ‘ready to leave’ Manchester United

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/05/virals-west-ham-keen-on-marseille-striker-bamba-dieng/) could finally be about to complete the permanent capture of 2020/21 loan sensation [Jesse Lingard](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/25/pundit-calls-for-jesse-lingard-to-make-west-ham-switch/).

The 29-year-old was superb for the Hammers during a temporary spell in East London last term, scoring [nine times and providing five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/141660) in just 16 outings.

Despite the expectancy being for a permanent switch during the summer, Lingard [opted to return to Old Trafford](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/manchester-united-transfer-latest-jesse-lingard-west-ham-b953134.html) but has found regular game time hard to come by.

Now according to a report from the [Daily Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jesse-lingard-man-utd-transfer-25856761), as cited by [West Ham Transfers](https://twitter.com/westhamtransfer) on Twitter, Lingard has now decided to seek pastures new once more.

The report claims the [32-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/nationalmannschaft/spieler/141660/verein_id/3299) England ace is ‘ready to leave’ Manchester United and could seal a permanent switch to the London Stadium this month.

This season the man hailed as [‘brilliant’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10006647/Ole-Gunnar-Solskjaer-showers-Jesse-Lingard-praise-midfielders-zero-hero-week.html) by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has [scored twice and registered one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660) in 12 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £18million and out of contract at the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/141660)), signing Lingard for the [suggested £10million](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1544166/West-Ham-preparing-transfer-bid-for-Man-Utd-outcast-Jesse-Lingard) would remain smart value for money.

Despite seemingly moving on with the capture of Nikola Vlasic, the Croatian [hasn’t hit the ground running](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nikola-vlasic/357596) as an Iron yet.

Capable of operating in [numerous attacking positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/141660), adding the Englishman to the current squad would be the perfect tonic to Said Benrahma’s temporary absence.
