# Pundit names two West Ham stars in EPL team of the week

Former England striker Alan Shearer has named two [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/04/kevin-phillips-tips-west-ham-to-deliver-very-clever-anwar-el-ghazi-transfer/) players in the Premier League team of the week.

As the Irons reverted back to winning ways in style with a [3-2 victory](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2022/january/02-january/extended-highlights-crystal-palace-2-3-west-ham-united) over Crystal Palace, two men stood out to the 51-year-old above the rest.

Midfield duo [Manuel Lanzini](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/02/football-fans-laud-unreal-manuel-lanzini-during-west-ham-victory/) and Declan Rice earned acclaim as Shearer [hailed](https://www.premierleague.com/news/2439560) the ‘brilliant’ goal from the Argentinian.

> The man of the match, scoring twice against Palace. He produced brilliant skill and a fine finish in off the crossbar for the first.

Rice wasn’t to be left behind however as the [legendary frontman](https://www.premierleague.com/players/89/Alan-Shearer/stats) praised the constant improvement in the Englishman’s game.

> Clocking up his 150th Premier League appearance in West Ham United’s 3-2 win at Crystal Palace, he seems to be getting better every month. He got another assist this time.

So far this season Rice has [scored three times and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/leistungsdaten/spieler/357662) in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Hammers.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to think up superlatives for West Ham’s [£67.5million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/declan-rice/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357662) midfielder.

Already a [consistent performer](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) for both club and country, the sky truly is the limit for the 22-year-old.

Irons’ fans will hope that under the guidance of David Moyes and with added quality, Rice can [achieve everything](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/01/declan-rice-rejects-west-ham-contract-offers-chelsea-manchester-united-city-champions-league) and more in East London.
