# Virals: West Ham not ‘ruled out’ in Rob Dickie transfer pursuit

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/03/virals-west-ham-eyeing-move-for-borussia-monchengladbach-ace-breel-embol/) are reportedly in the running for the capture of QPR defender Rob Dickie.

The Hammers are believed to be keen on the 25-year-old but face fierce competition from [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) rivals Newcastle United and Southampton.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is expected to bolster the defensive ranks this month following injuries to [Kurt Zouma](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/07/virals-west-ham-confirm-double-injury-blow-to-defensive-stars/) and Angelo Ogbonna.

Now a report from [The Mirror (printed edition 03 January, page 46)](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/), as previously cited by [West Ham Fan Zone](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ) on Twitter have claimed that West Ham could move for the centre-back.

The latest report claims that Newcastle are the frontrunners for the [England Under 19 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rob-dickie/nationalmannschaft/spieler/257437/verein_id/21340) but ‘bids’ may yet be forthcoming from elsewhere.

So far this season Dickie has [scored four times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rob-dickie/leistungsdaten/spieler/257437) in 28 appearances across all competitions – earning a [7.14 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/robert-dickie/802697) in 24 Championship outings in the process.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £2.7million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rob-dickie/marktwertverlauf/spieler/257437)), the former Oxford United man would be a bargain at the mooted £5million asking price.

Young enough to improve further and an impressive physical specimen, Dickie already [boasts the fundamental attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317181/Show/Robert-Dickie) needed to succeed at the top level.

Despite being [unproven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rob-dickie/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/257437) at the elite level, Moyes has proven in the past to be willing to take a gamble on players from the second-tier and would likely view the Wokingham-born ace as a risk worth taking.
