# Virals: West Ham ‘eyeing move’ for Borussia Monchengladbach ace Breel Embolo

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2022/01/02/football-fans-laud-unreal-manuel-lanzini-during-west-ham-victory/) are reportedly ‘eyeing’ a move for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Breel Embolo.

The Hammers are expected to consider signing a frontman in the January window having failed to replace [Sebastien Haller](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/22/trevor-sinclair-surprised-by-sebastien-hallers-resurrection/) for a year.

Embolo is the latest name linked with the Irons as David Moyes looks to [bolster the options](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) available at the London Stadium.

According to a report from [The Sunday People](https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/sunday-people) (print edition January 2nd, page 56), as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00) on Twitter, the 24-year-old is on the radar in East London as well as on the south coast.

The report claims that the [50-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/breel-embolo/nationalmannschaft/spieler/237662/verein_id/3384) Switzerland ace is under consideration at the Premier League clubs.

So far this season Embolo – described as possessing [‘lightning’](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/breel-embolo-who-is-the-borussia-monchengladbach-switzerland-forward-16244) pace – has [scored four times and provided another four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/breel-embolo/leistungsdaten/spieler/237662) in 13 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £14.4million and under contract until 2023 in Germany ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/breel-embolo/leistungsdaten/spieler/237662)), signing the Swiss forward would be an expensive outlay for the Hammers.

However, the [versatility](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/breel-embolo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/237662) of the former FC Basel man would be of huge benefit to Moyes’ squad whilst also offering suitable support to Michail Antonio.

Possessing impressive dribbling and passing ability ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/143695/Show/Breel-Embolo)), Embolo should be among the leading contenders to arrive in East London.
