# West Ham fans blast ‘shocking’ Pablo Fornals performance

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/24/virals-west-ham-ace-ryan-fredericks-could-be-looking-for-a-new-club/) fans were left unimpressed with the performance of attacking midfielder [Pablo Fornals](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/22/james-collins-lauds-unbelievable-west-ham-midfielder-pablo-fornals/) against Southampton.

The 25-year-old was amongst a host of underperformers on a day that saw the Hammers fall to a [3-2](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10345475/West-Ham-2-3-Southampton-Visitors-win-Premier-League-match-SEVEN.html) home defeat.

However, despite numerous teammates [falling short](https://www.sofascore.com/southampton-west-ham-united/MV) of the level required, it was Fornals who bore the brunt of the displeasure on social media.

> What’s happened to Fornals? All of a sudden he can’t make a single pass and players going by him for fun?

> Really? I thought fornals was our worst player just about. So many stray passes.

> Fornals was woeful he’s put in cam because of his passing and that was shocking today. Vlasic has to start again against watford. Him and Bowen were our 2 driving forces going forward.

Fornals was [rated 6.30 by Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/pablo-fornals/816763) for a display that saw the Spaniard lose possession on 12 occasions whilst on the field.

So far this season the former Villarreal man has [scored four times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pablo-fornals/leistungsdaten/spieler/357885) in 18 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Admittedly this wasn’t Fornals’ finest outing in a claret and blue shirt, but to be over critical seems harsh given the [promising start](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-leicester-david-moyes-21382834) made to the season.

However, there can be no doubting that the form of the [£18million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pablo-fornals/marktwertverlauf/spieler/357885) ace is of major concern, as is the side’s more generally.

Now [without a win in five matches](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results?field_competition=All&field_competition_season=6535&page=1) across all competitions, David Moyes will be desperate to taste victory when the Hammers face Watford this week.
