# Virals: West Ham ‘express interest’ in Orlando City striker Daryl Dike

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/24/virals-west-ham-weighing-up-a-move-for-psg-ace-layvin-kurzawa/) are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Orlando City striker Daryl Dike.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a spectacular rise to prominence in the last 18 months including a [nine-goal loan spell](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/638741/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB2/verein/349) at Championship side Barnsley.

Now [back in the MLS](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdaten/spieler/638741), the Hammers are believed to be keen on bringing the American to the London Stadium amidst interest from Newcastle, Brighton and Leeds United.

That’s according to a report from [TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/west-bromwich-albion/west-ham-leeds-newcastle-brighton-daryl-dike-transfer-battle), as cited by [SportzGlobal01](https://twitter.com/SGlobal01) on Twitter.

The report claims that the [eight-cap USA international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/nationalmannschaft/spieler/638741/verein_id/3505) is ‘attracting interest’ from England once again.

During the 2020/21 MLS campaign Dike – described as a [‘powerhouse’](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/west-bromwich-albion/2021/11/13/door-is-still-open-for-kenneth-zohore-to-make-a-west-brom-return/) by Don Goodman – [scored 10 times and provided one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/638741/saison/2020/wettbewerb/MLS1/verein/45604) in 18 appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £9million and under contract until December 2022 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/marktwertverlauf/spieler/638741)), bringing the American to East London would likely be an expensive outlay.

Powerful and an [adept finisher](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/396063/Show/Daryl-Dike) with feet as well as aerially, David Moyes would certainly be an admirer of Dike’s physical presence.

Already a [proven operator](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daryl-dike/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/638741) in the second tier of English football, West Ham should be pushing to make the deal happen in January.
