# Virals: West Ham joined in race for Nottingham Forest ace Brennan Johnson

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/21/pundit-believes-dele-alli-display-will-spark-further-interest-from-west-ham/) have once again been named as potential suitors for Nottingham Forest starlet Brennan Johnson.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a [breakthrough year](https://www.sofascore.com/player/brennan-johnson/1085180) in the Championship and is attracting plenty of attention as a result.

Everton, Newcastle United and Brentford are the latest clubs tipped to rival the Hammers for the [exciting](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/steve-cooper-reacts-to-brennan-johnsons-impact-at-nottingham-forest-this-season/) youngster’s signature.

That’s according to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10333477/Everton-Newcastle-join-West-Ham-race-20m-rated-Brennan-Johnson-Nottingham-Forest.html), as cited by [Soccer Talk](https://twitter.com/soccertal) on Twitter.

The report claims clubs are ‘queuing up’ to land the [seven cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/nationalmannschaft/spieler/470607/verein_id/3864) Wales ace as Forest place a £20million valuation on their asset.

So far this season Johnson – described as a ‘livewire’ by [Wales Online](https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/steady-wales-player-ratings-stoke-21457564?_ga=2.74685778.1133933989.1640155531-1537486511.1588352392) – has [scored five times and provided four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/leistungsdaten/spieler/470607) in 23 league appearances.

Valued at £900,000 and under contract at the City Ground until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/470607)), paying the mooted £20million fee would be a huge outlay for the attacking midfielder.

Whilst on loan at Lincoln City in 2020/21, the talented Nottingham-born starlet [scored 10 and provided 14 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470607/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/GB3/verein/1198) in 40 League One outings.

Albeit clearly a player boasting [immense potential](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brennan-johnson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/470607), David Moyes is relatively blessed in the forward-thinking midfielder department at present and perhaps funds would be wiser spent elsewhere.
