# West Ham fans excited by ‘amazing’ Jonathan David transfer links

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/20/virals-west-ham-have-reportedly-made-an-enquiry-over-sven-botman/) have reportedly opened ‘negotiations’ to sign LOSC Lille forward [Jonathan David](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/21/virals-west-ham-in-negotiations-to-sign-lille-striker-jonathan-david/).

Despite enjoying a [strong first half of the season](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) until now, the Hammers have been stretched to their maximum in recent weeks due to injuries and loss of form.

One man enduring a dip in output by his [own admission](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/december/20-december/michail-antonio-i-am-going-go-out-there-and-give-my-all) is talismanic striker Michail Antonio.

The 31-year-old is currently on a run of [one goal in 12 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/leistungsdaten/spieler/104124) for the Irons but is nigh on untouchable as the recognised frontman due to a lack of options.

Following the [links](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/west-ham-negocia-fichaje-jonathan-david-20211219.html) to David, a host of happy Hammers took to social media to reel in the potential arrival of the 21-year-old.

So far this season the prolific Canada international has [scored 15 times in 26 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/leistungsdaten/spieler/533738) across all competitions – including three UEFA Champions League strikes.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Given David’s age, profile and already [burgeoning reputation](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/533738), it’s of little surprise that the excitement would be palpable amongst the fanbase.

Having [attracted the interest](https://www.jeunesfooteux.com/LOSC-55M--Olivier-Letang-sort-les-barbeles-du-cote-de-Lille-OSC-_a50538.html) of Liverpool and Arsenal previously, David Moyes is certainly shopping in the right market as the Scot looks to bolster the attacking options.

Albeit an expensive mid-season investment for the [£45million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/marktwertverlauf/spieler/533738) man, should the Canadian arrive at the London Stadium next month it would offer a huge boost to the whole club.
