# Virals: West Ham in ‘negotiations’ to sign Lille striker Jonathan David

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/20/virals-west-ham-have-reportedly-made-an-enquiry-over-sven-botman/) have reportedly started ‘negotiations’ to land highly-rated LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David.

The 21-year-old has continued a [rapid upwards career trajectory](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/transfers/spieler/533738) since arriving in Ligue 1 following moves from Ottawa ISC and KAA Gent.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is expected to bring [another attacking option](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) to the London Stadium in order to support Michail Antonio.

According to [Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/west-ham-negocia-fichaje-jonathan-david-20211219.html) and [Ekrem KONUR](https://twitter.com/Ekremkonur), as cited by [West Ham Fan Zone](https://twitter.com/WHUFCFZ) on Twitter, David is among the leading targets.

The report claims that the [24-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/nationalmannschaft/spieler/533738/verein_id/3510) Canadian star will cost in the region of €50million (£42.6million).

So far this season the ace described as an [‘ice-cold’](https://www.archysport.com/2021/12/three-psg-stars-for-jonathan-david-lilles-goalscorer-and-his-explosion-of-performance/) finisher has scored [15 goals in 26 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/leistungsdaten/spieler/533738) across all competitions.

Valued at £45million and under contract in France until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/marktwertverlauf/spieler/533738)), the report states that the Hammers could afford the frontman ‘without problems’ should Declan Rice move on.

A hugely exciting prospect with an [eye for goal](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/383855/Show/Jonathan-David), David would be a superb addition to the Irons’ squad.

Not only a centre-forward, but the Canadian has also [operated in deeper roles](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-david/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/533738) as well as out wide on occasions – exactly the versatility Moyes appreciates from his attacking options.
