# Virals: West Ham set to ‘push ahead’ with Nat Phillips pursuit

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/15/pundit-claims-reported-west-ham-target-nathan-ake-would-be-expensive-deal/) will reportedly ‘push ahead’ with a move for Liverpool central defender [Nat Phillips](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/09/virals-west-ham-consider-january-move-for-nat-phillips/) in January.

The Hammers have been extensively linked with the 24-year-old in recent weeks following [long-term injuries](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/west-ham-zouma-injury-blow-25636667) suffered by Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

Phillips came to the rescue last season as Jurgen Klopp’s [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) suffered from its own major injury crisis.

According to a fresh report from [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-nat-phillips-transfer-news-liverpool-b971851.html), as cited by [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch) on Twitter, the Irons will make a swoop next month.

The report claims that Liverpool will ‘hold out’ for a £10million asking price for the ace who [fractured a cheekbone](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/nat-phillips-broken-cheekbone-milan-25668903) against AC Milan recently.

So far this season the Englishman – described as [‘unbelievable’](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/burnley-liverpool-phillips-praise-difference-20636363) by Jamie Redknapp – has made [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdaten/spieler/371814) across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £7.2million and under contract until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/marktwertverlauf/spieler/371814)), paying £10million for Phillips would represent superb value for money.

Already accustomed to [stepping into the breach](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathaniel-phillips/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/371814) when needed, the Bolton-born defender looks purpose-built to fill the void at the London Stadium.

[Strong in the air](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/381527/Show/Nathaniel-Phillips) and with an uncomplicated approach to defending, David Moyes’ admiration of Phillips is hugely understandable.
