# Virals: West Ham a ‘serious candidate’ to sign Club Brugge ace Hans Vanaken

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/14/virals-west-ham-tempted-by-move-for-hull-city-ace-keane-lewis-potter/) have now emerged as a ‘serious candidate’ to sign Club Brugge attacking midfielder [Hans Vanaken](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/10/virals-west-ham-could-reignite-interest-in-hans-vanaken/).

The Hammers have previously been [linked](https://twitter.com/whufcnewsnow_/status/1311936310878363648) with the 29-year-old but a move failed to materialise.

Now it appears that David Moyes could revisit the interest as the January transfer window fast approaches.

That’s according to Belgian outlet [Voetbal24](https://www.voetbal24.be/news/75162/transfermarkt-vermaelen-naar-anderlecht-vanaken-naar-premier-league), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-serious-candidate-midfielder-january-player-expected-make-pl-move-wins-prize/).

The report claims that should the [17-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/nationalmannschaft/spieler/137576/verein_id/3382) ace win the Belgian Golden Shoe, a move to the Premier League may be forthcoming thereafter.

So far this season Vanaken has [scored eight times and provided five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/leistungsdaten/spieler/137576) from 25 appearances across all competitions for the Belgian top-flight outfit.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £14.4million and under contract at Brugge until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/marktwertverlauf/spieler/137576)), signing the star would be an expensive mid-season outlay for the Irons.

Predominantly [operating as an attack-minded central midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hans-vanaken/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/137576), Vanaken would bolster the options available to Moyes in the department.

Another [powerful figure](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/243567/Show/Hans-Vanaken), a trio of Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and the Belgian would be a fearsome sight to behold.

Albeit not [necessarily the priority](https://mobile.twitter.com/TonyCottee9/status/1469637352683413508) in the upcoming window, this is a deal that should perhaps only be explored once a striker and central defender have been obtained.
