# Virals: Report offers West Ham double January transfer boost

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/10/pundit-believes-arthur-cabral-move-would-be-shrewd-for-west-ham/) have been offered hope of striking a sensational double transfer swoop in the January window.

Irons’s boss [David Moyes](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/08/trevor-sinclair-urges-west-ham-to-enter-january-transfer-market/) may be looking towards the market in order to strengthen a squad already performing beyond all expectations this season.

As things stand the Hammers are into the knockout phase of the [Europa League](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/standings/), quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and sit inside the Premier League top four.

However, injuries have [begun to take hold](https://www.whufc.com/news/injury-news) in recent weeks and the Scot may want to double down on the options available.

According to a report from [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/transfers/2020-2021/nathan-ake-and-jesse-lingard-can-help-west-ham-as-clubs-circle-declan-rice-and-jarrod-bowen-inside-f_sto8665888/story.shtml), as previously raised by [ExWHUemployee](https://twitter.com/WHUNewsApp/status/1466909506668048386) on Twitter, West Ham could be set to attempt an audacious move for Nathan Ake and Jesse Lingard.

The report claims that the East London club plan to ‘open discussions’ to sign [Manchester United ace Lingard](https://www.manutd.com/en/players-and-staff/detail/jesse-lingard) as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Dutch defender Ake is being ‘explored as a potential signing’ following [injuries](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10288835/West-Ham-David-Moyes-confirms-transfer-priority-new-defender-Zouma-Ogbonna-injuries.html) to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

What a start to the window this would be.

Whilst signing two players from [now rivals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) is a difficult task, if the Hammers could pull this off it would leave the squad in far stronger stead than the current situation.

Ultimately a central defender arrival in January is a must, perhaps alongside a striker to offer [much-needed support](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) to Michail Antonio.

Already linked with an abundance of possible targets, Moyes looks to be honing in on two [Premier League outcasts](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/leistungsdaten/spieler/141660).
