# Virals: West Ham ‘interested’ in signing Manchester City ace Nathan Ake

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/02/virals-west-ham-target-eddie-nketiah-reportedly-rejects-contract-offer/) are reportedly ‘interested’ in signing Manchester City central defender Nathan Ake.

The 26-year-old arrived at the Premier League champions for £40million from AFC Bournemouth in 2020 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53672152)) but hasn’t been a regular feature in Pep Guardiola’s side.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is believed to be in the market for a centre-back following the [serious injury](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/november/09-november/angelo-ogbonna-injury-update) suffered by Angelo Ogbonna.

According to a report from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/west-ham-identify-nathan-ake-january-transfer-target-man-city), as cited by [Toby Cudworth](https://twitter.com/Toby_Cudworth/status/1466497640829444097) on Twitter, the Hammers are considering a move for Ake.

The report claims that the [23 times capped Dutchman](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ake/nationalmannschaft/spieler/177476/verein_id/3379) has been identified as the ‘primary target’ at the London Stadium heading into January.

So far this season Ake has made [nine appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ake/leistungsdaten/spieler/177476) across all competitions for City, scoring once and earning a [6.90 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nathan-ake/149663) from five league outings.

Valued at £28.8million and under contract in Manchester until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ake/marktwertverlauf/spieler/177476)), the report moots a possible loan deal until the end of the season that includes an obligation to buy.

An [experienced operator](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathan-ake/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/177476) at both domestic and international levels, Ake would be a shrewd signing for the Hammers and would allow Moyes to carry on seamlessly with four recognised options in tow.

Capable of playing as an out and out centre-back as well as at left-back and defensive midfield, the Dutchman would also add [impressive versatility](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/122945/Show/Nathan-Ak%C3%A9) to the squad.
