# Virals: West Ham ‘exploring the option’ of Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/12/02/virals-west-ham-target-eddie-nketiah-reportedly-rejects-contract-offer/) have been named among the clubs ‘exploring the option’ of signing Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne.

The 30-year-old Italian is believed to be [attracting interest](https://sempreinter.com/2021/09/29/inter-target-lorenzo-insigne-im-not-thinking-about-my-contract-issues-with-napoli/) from the Hammers, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

Club captain and legend in Naples, Insigne could be about to part ways from *Gli Azzurri* and end a [15-year association](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/transfers/spieler/133964) with the club.

That’s according to reputable Italian outlet [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.it/2021/11/30/calciomercato-inter-napoli-insigne-accordo-rinnovo-conte/), as cited by [Football Fuel](https://twitter.com/FootbalFuel) on Twitter.

The report claims all four clubs are keen on signing the [53-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/nationalmannschaft/spieler/133964/verein_id/3376) star at the end of this season.

Once hailed as [‘excellent’](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1625806800/1625808600/) by Ray Parlour, Insigne has amassed [205 direct goal contributions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/133964) in 414 appearances for Napoli – lifting [three major domestic trophies](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/erfolge/spieler/133964) in the process.

So far this season the ace has [scored five times and provided six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/leistungsdaten/spieler/133964) in 6 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Still holding a market value of £43.2million despite being out of contract in 2022 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/marktwertverlauf/spieler/133964)), Insigne would be an outstanding acquisition for any club as a free agent.

However, primarily [operating from the left-hand side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lorenzo-insigne/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/133964), David Moyes would perhaps be reticent to add further competition in a well-stocked department.

Boasting a remarkable array of [attacking attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83390/Show/Lorenzo-Insigne) and still a top performer at the elite level, Insigne would likely demand a leading role ahead of Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.

For that reason, despite the potential glamour signing, perhaps the Irons would be best served to focus attention elsewhere.
