# Virals: West Ham ‘hold an interest’ in Boubacar Kamara

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/18/virals-west-ham-have-reportedly-watched-fc-basel-striker-arthur-cabral/) are believed to ‘hold an interest’ in Marseille defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is expected to reinforce the squad following the [injury to Angelo Ogbonna](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/november/09-november/angelo-ogbonna-injury-update) before the international break.

Already [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/risky-burnley-strategy-hammers-newcastle-james-tarkowski-transfer-latest) with James Tarkowski, Ben Mee and Duje Caleta-Car since the blow, ExWHUemployee has added another possible name to the list of January targets.

Speaking on [The West Ham Way Podcast](https://www.thewesthamway.com/), as cited by [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_) on Twitter, the popular club insider claims Kamara is on the radar at the London Stadium.

Capped [nine times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/nationalmannschaft/spieler/394327/verein_id/9323) by France at Under 21 level, the 21-year-old has established himself as a mainstay at the Ligue 1 club.

Hailed as a [‘phenomenon’](https://en.africatopsports.com/2020/05/30/marseille-rolando-praises-qualities-of-boubacar-kamara/) by Rolando, this season Kamara has earned an impressive [6.95 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/boubacar-kamara/826204) from 11 league appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

This is a rather curious link.

Despite possessing plenty of quality and a bright future, the Frenchman’s strengths lie in operating as a defensive midfielder – a position the Hammers are [well stocked](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) in with Alex Kral, Mark Noble, Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice.

Albeit [capable of playing at centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/394327), Kamara doesn’t have the physical presence Moyes goes for in a defender.

Valued at £25.2million and out of contract next summer ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-kamara/marktwertverlauf/spieler/394327)), there would certainly appear that there is a deal to be done – although where the ace would fit is up for debate.
