# Virals: West Ham reportedly ‘lining up a move’ for Ben Mee

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/16/paddy-kenny-believes-david-moyes-is-set-for-extended-west-ham-stay/) are reportedly ‘lining up a move’ for Burnley central defender Ben Mee.

The Hammers are believed to be in the market for a centre-back following the long-term injury suffered by [Angelo Ogbonna](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/11/virals-west-ham-keen-on-championship-duo-after-angelo-ogbonna-blow/).

Mee is [out of contract](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/burnley-transfer-news-contracts-dyche-21366886) at the end of the current season and could therefore be available at a reduced rate in January.

According to a report from [Claret & Hugh](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/fwd/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuY2xhcmV0YW5kaHVnaC5pbmZvL2hhbW1lcnMtY29uc2lkZXJpbmctYnVybmxleS1yYWlkLw=/?fwd=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.claretandhugh.info%2Fhammers-considering-burnley-raid%2F&sport=1&spName=Football&spArticle=x_West_Ham_weighing%20up%20move%20), as cited by  [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, Irons boss David Moyes is considering a swoop for the 32-year-old.

The report claims that West Ham will weigh up the possibility of singing the [twice-capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-mee/nationalmannschaft/spieler/74810/verein_id/9565) England Under 21 ace for a ‘knock-down fee’ having previously been interested in Clarets’ teammate James Tarkowski.

This season Mee, who was described as a [‘top-class professional’](https://www.burnleyexpress.net/sport/football/burnley-captain-ben-mee-one-best-centre-backs-premier-league-recent-seasons-insists-boss-sean-dyche-2903244) by Sean Dyche, has [scored once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-mee/leistungsdaten/spieler/74810) in eight Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £5.4million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-mee/marktwertverlauf/spieler/74810)), the no-nonsense central defender would still represent huge value for money at the right price.

Vastly experienced at the top level, Moyes would be adding a player [ready-made](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-mee/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/74810) to fill the void left by Ogbonna.

Albeit unlikely Burnley would be willing to sell their captain to a domestic rival, given the [dwindling contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-mee/profil/spieler/74810) they may be left with little choice but to accept incoming offers.
