# Virals: Burnley defender James Tarkowski ‘keen to join’ West Ham

Burnley centre-back [James Tarkowski](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/23/virals-james-tarkowski-to-remain-at-burnley-for-2021-22-season/) is reportedly ‘keen’ on joining [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/12/tony-gale-lauds-one-phenomenal-pablo-fornals-attribute/) as soon as January.

The Hammers actively pursued the 28-year-old last summer before being [priced out of the running](https://talksport.com/football/760981/james-tarkowski-west-ham-third-final-bid-burnley-rejected/) by the Lancashire club.

However, fast approaching the [final six months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/profil/spieler/173504) of a deal at Turf Moor and in the wake of the injury to Angelo Ogbonna, it would appear the interest is set to be reignited.

That’s according to a report from *[The Evening Standard](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/fwd/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc3RhbmRhcmQuY28udWsvc3BvcnQvZm9vdGJhbGwvd2VzdC1oYW0tamFudWFyeS10cmFuc2Zlci13aW5kb3ctZGFuaWVsLWtyZXRpbnNreS1iOTY1NjMyLmh0bWw/?fwd=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.standard.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fwest-ham-january-transfer-window-daniel-kretinsky-b965632.html&sport=1&spName=Football&spArticle=x_James_Tarkowski_keen%20to%20jo)*, as cited by [From The Anvil – West Ham](https://twitter.com/FromTheAnvilWHU)on Twitter.

The report claims that several clubs have shown an interest as the [twice-capped England man](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/nationalmannschaft/spieler/173504/verein_id/3299) prepares to leave Burnely after five years.

Despite a difficult start to the season in the North West, Tarkowski, recently hailed as [‘outstanding’](https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/15259045.sean-dyche-hails-outstanding-james-tarkowski-battle-places-burnley-side-hots/) by Sean Dyche, has earned an impressive [7.13 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/james-tarkowski/145188) from 11 Premier League outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-tarkowski/marktwertverlauf/spieler/173504)), West Ham should be testing the Burnley resolve in January as the club prepare to lose their prized asset for nothing.

Irons’ boss David Moyes is clearly a huge admirer and Ogbonna’s [long-term absence](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/november/09-november/angelo-ogbonna-injury-update) presents a problem that the Englishman could well solve.

Even at the mooted £20million, the Hammers would be landing themselves a [quality top-flight operator](https://www.premierleague.com/players/8143/James-Tarkowski/overview) at a bargain fee.
