# Virals: West Ham ‘consider’ move for Serie A hotshot Giovanni Simeone

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/09/rio-ferdinand-joins-chorus-of-plaudits-for-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) are reportedly considering a move for Hellas Verona striker [Giovanni Simeone](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/22/virals-west-ham-reportedly-make-loan-offer-for-giovanni-simeone/) in January.

The Hammers were linked with the 26-year-old in the summer before the Argentina international [joined Verona on a season long-loan](https://football-italia.net/official-verona-announce-simeone/) from Cagliari.

Born in Madrid and the son of Atletico manager Diego, Simeone has forged a [79-goal professional career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovanni-simeone/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/282388) across spells with six clubs in Argentina and Italy.

According to a report from [The Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1518705/West-Ham-transfer-news-Serie-A-goal-machine-Giovanni-Simeone), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/DExpress_Sport/status/1458039526828433418), David Moyes is still weighing up a move for the frontman.

The report claims that the [five-cap ace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovanni-simeone/nationalmannschaft/spieler/282388/verein_id/3437) ‘remains of interest’ at the London Stadium despite the complex nature of the deal due to being on a loan-to-buy move currently.

This season Simeone has [scored nine times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovanni-simeone/leistungsdaten/spieler/282388) in 11 Serie A appearances.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing a striker has to be a priority as soon as January to ensure the Irons can [continue](https://www.skysports.com/west-ham-united-results) on this wonderful path.

Relying too heavily on Michail Antonio throughout the campaign will eventually catch up with Moyes’ side and likely the [Jamaican’s hamstrings](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/west-ham-fc-news-michail-antonio-pablo-fornals-david-moyes-b900109.html) further down the line.

Albeit the club will likely have to pay over the odds for the [£9.9million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giovanni-simeone/marktwertverlauf/spieler/282388) centre-forward, if he truly is the chosen one then it’s a worthwhile expenditure.
