# West Ham reportedly set to reignite Duje Caleta-Car pursuit

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/08/virals-west-ham-are-reportedly-still-monitoring-nikola-milenkovic/) are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Marseille defender [Duje Caleta-Car](https://readwestham.com/2021/08/23/virals-west-ham-see-15million-bid-for-duje-caleta-car-rejected/).

The Hammers were [heavily linked](https://twitter.com/SkySportsPL/status/1312097730739699713) with the Croatian centre-back during the summer before signing Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

Now according to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/marsiglia-un-difensore-piace-in-premier-85229), David Moyes could be about to return for the 25-year-old ace.

The report claims that the Irons will face fresh competition from mega-rich Newcastle United in the pursuit of the [19-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duje-caleta-car/nationalmannschaft/spieler/238266/verein_id/3556) Croatia international.

This season Caleta-Car has earned a [7.07 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/duje-caleta-car/257091) from six Ligue 1 outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Continued interest in the Croatian, and indeed any defender is intriguing given the [superb defensive performances](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/may/29-may/defensive-standouts-numbers-behind-west-ham-uniteds-record-breaking) so far this term.

Moyes has [many top-class options](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at his disposal at present but could already be looking towards life after Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson.

Valued at £16.2million and under contract until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/duje-caleta-car/marktwertverlauf/spieler/238266)), there would appear to be a bargain available and West Ham would be wise to act fast.
