# Virals: West Ham are reportedly ‘still monitoring’ Nikola Milenkovic

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/08/pundits-shower-praise-on-fantastic-west-ham-ace-declan-rice/) reportedly maintain an interest in signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic.

The Hammers were [extensively linked](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12384543/nikola-milenkovic-tottenham-west-ham-and-wolves-interest-in-serbia-defender-may-not-bear-fruit) with the 24-year-old during the summer but ultimately missed out on the capture.

Irons’ boss David Moyes instead opted to sign [Kurt Zouma](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/08/garth-crooks-lauds-west-ham-duo-following-memorable-victory/) from Chelsea and the Frenchman has proven to be a superb capture.

However, according to a report from [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/milenkovic-ancora-sul-mercato-da-juve-e-inter-a-conte-la-scelta--57993), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers/status/1457067763856510983) on Twitter, West Ham are still keen on Milenkovic.

The report claims that Premier League club’s ‘remain attentive and ready to seize the opportunity’ to sign the [31-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nikola-milenkovic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/413507/verein_id/3438) Serbia ace.

This season the man described as [‘extraordinary’](https://x-sport.news/fiorentina-lirola-on-milenkovic-extraordinary-quality-ready-for-a-great-team/) by Pol Lirola has earned an impressive [7.13 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/nikola-milenkovic/836168) from 11 Serie A outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £22.5million and under contract in Florence until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nikola-milenkovic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/413507)), signing Milenkovic at a bargain price would be shrewd business.

Despite being relatively [well-stocked in the defensive department](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) at present, both Craig Dawson and Angelo Ogbonna are on the wrong side of 30 and will need replacing in order to continue the progression at West Ham.

Boasting an array of [key attributes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/319785/Show/Nikola-Milenkovic) for a central defender, Moyes would be wise to make a move for the Serb.
