# Virals: West Ham ‘seriously considering’ January move for Jonathan Ikone

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/05/peter-drury-lauds-mesmeric-said-benrahma-for-europa-league-display/) are reported to be ‘seriously considering’ a move for versatile Lille forward Jonathan Ikone as soon as January.

Many are expecting Irons’ boss David Moyes to delve into the mid-season market for a striker to support [Michail Antonio](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/26/chris-sutton-believes-england-missed-a-trick-regarding-michail-antonio/).

Ikone has been a leading light for the French Ligue 1 club for some time and played a huge role as *Les Dogues* [lifted L’Hexagoal](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/lille/story/4385476/lille-end-psg-dominance-to-win-ligue-1-title-for-first-time-in-10-years) last term.

According to a report from *[Milan Live](https://www.milanlive.it/2021/11/04/calciomercato-lattaccante-piace-al-milan-ma-puo-finire-in-inghilterra/)* (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-swooping-forward-seriously-considering-move-need-significant-sum/)) as cited separately on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers/status/1456795399419744260), the Hammers are keen on landing the 23-year-old this winter.

The report claims West Ham are ‘swooping in’ for the [four-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-ikone/nationalmannschaft/spieler/324690/verein_id/9323) France starlet and could be prepared to pay the ‘significant sum’ required to secure his signature.

Everton and AC Milan are also named as potential suitors as the [skilful left-footer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31-Oo4d8r8M) prepares to be at the centre of a bidding war.

So far this season Ikone has [scored twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-ikone/leistungsdaten/spieler/324690) in 17 appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing an additional [attacking option](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322094/Show/Jonathan-Ikon%C3%A9) must be high on the list of Moyes’ priorities when January comes.

Capable of playing [across numerous positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-ikone/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/324690), Ikone would provide the Irons’ squad with yet another versatile option in the mould of Jarrod Bowen.

Valued at £22.5million and under contract in France until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonathan-ikone/marktwertverlauf/spieler/324690)), West Ham should be confident of signing the Frenchman at a relatively reasonable price.
