# Stuart Pearce in awe of West Ham midfielder Declan Rice

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/02/noel-whelan-lauds-david-moyes-for-west-ham-transformation/) first-team coach Stuart Pearce has once again been lauding [Declan Rice](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/01/virals-west-ham-star-declan-rice-posts-dressing-room-antics-following-win/).

The 22-year-old has been in [spectacular form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/declan-rice/856714) this season and continues to take centre stage as David Moyes’ side thrive.

Pearce was moonlighting as a pundit for [talkSPORT (Tuesday, November 2)](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1455462355308056578) and was asked just how far Rice could go.

> As far as he wants to be fair. Every game he takes to the field in the expectation for me should be he needs to be the best player on the pitch. He’s got the tools, the stature, he’s got everything, honestly. He’s an absolute pleasure to work with, he drives us from midfield. I was sat next to Billy McKinlay and he asked me ‘Is he as good as Roy Keane at the same age?’ I said ‘I think he’s probably slightly better’.

> 😱 “Declan Rice can go as far as he wants. He’s got everything! At the same age, I think he’s better than Roy Keane!”\
> \
> 👏 “Plays with a smile on his face and a joy to work with. A Bryan Robson-type!”\

The 59-year-old went on to cite the [addition of goals](https://www.premierleague.com/players/15202/Declan-Rice/overview) to his game and compared the ace to another Manchester United legend, Bryan Robson.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

High praise indeed.

Although at present it would appear Rice is capable of doing anything and everything he wants in football – even [emulating half of what Keane or Robson managed](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/red-idols-bryan-robson-was-the-finest-midfielder-of-his-generation) to achieve would be a monumental feat.

From a West Ham perspective, Hammers will be hopeful that their star can fulfil all his [potential](https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/declan-rice-west-ham-england/) and dreams at the London Stadium.
