# Ally McCoist claims West Ham could qualify for UCL this season

Scotland legend Ally McCoist has claimed [West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/11/01/gary-lineker-full-of-praise-for-magnificent-declan-rice/) can qualify for the UEFA Champions League this season.

The Hammers consolidated their spot inside the Premier League top four on Sunday with a resounding [4-1 victory](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/october/31-october/goals-aston-villa-1-4-west-ham-united) against Aston Villa.

That win moved the Irons three points clear of Manchester United in the race for the top four and David Moyes’ are also [well on course](https://www.skysports.com/west-ham-united-results) to qualify from their Europa League group.

Speaking on [talkSPORT Breakfast (November 1)](https://talksport.com/radio/listen-again/1635746400/1635750000/), McCoist claimed that there is very little stopping West Ham join the European elite.

> Why not? Honest to god. They look to me, they are clearly the second-best team in London.

Both former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara and [ex-Iron Trevor Sinclair](https://www.premierleague.com/players/741/Trevor-Sinclair/overview) backed up the Scotsman.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

These are the [halcyon days](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) that the Hammers faithful could perhaps only have dreamt of a little over 18 months ago.

With Moyes rightfully back in situ at the London Stadium, this [current crop](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) certainly appears to be on the verge of something spectacular.

There is no doubt that the fourth place in the [Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) at least is up for grabs at present and there is no reason why West Ham can’t be the team to take it.

Whether it be via domestic means or [Europa League](https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/standings/) glory, Moyes taking the Hammers to the Champions League would be a remarkable feat.
