# Virals: Angelo Ogbonna in line for new West Ham contract

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/19/virals-ex-west-ham-youngster-kai-corbett-on-trial-at-southampton/) centre-back [Angelo Ogbonna](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/18/pundit-in-awe-of-top-class-west-ham-star-angelo-ogbonna/) is reportedly in line to be offered a new contract to remain at the London Stadium.

The 33-year-old’s current deal [expires at the end of the season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/profil/spieler/48002) and Ogbonna is yet to commit to the club.

Recently [West Ham News & Views](https://twitter.com/WestHamViews_/status/1448264537715642369) opened the discussion on Twitter regarding the Italian and Hammers were undecided over their stalwart defender.

> Seems there's quite a few people who would let Angelo Ogbonna go at the end of his contract next summer.\
> \
> For me he needs to get at least a 1 year contract extension. He's been our best defender for some time and it would take another £30m player to replace him.\

However, according to a report from insiders [Claret and Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/new-deal-on-way-for-iron/), West Ham are believed to be weighing up offering a new deal due to recent superb form.

So far this season the [13-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/nationalmannschaft/spieler/48002/verein_id/3376) ace has played eight times in the Premier League and netted the winner against Everton at Goodison Park in a [7.90 Sofascore rated](https://www.sofascore.com/player/angelo-ogbonna/21164) performance.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £2.25million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/marktwertverlauf/spieler/48002)), Ogbonna continues to earn a place in David Moyes’ side and as such is deserving of a contract extension.

Since arriving in east London from Juventus in 2015, the Italian has [played 198 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/angelo-ogbonna/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/48002) for the Hammers and will likely bring up a 200th appearance in the coming weeks.
