# Virals: West Ham ‘keeping tabs’ on Genk striker Paul Onuachu

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/19/gary-neville-claims-declan-rice-obviously-must-leave-west-ham/) are reportedly ‘keeping tabs’ on Genk striker [Paul Onuachu](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/28/virals-journalist-claims-west-ham-target-paul-onuachu-will-move-in-january/).

Perennially [linked with a move](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/paul-onuachu-west-ham-radar-confirms-genk-cooperate-transfer) to the London Stadium following the departure of Sebastien Haller, the Hammers have once again been tipped to make a swoop for the 27-year-old.

According to a report from [Sport Mediaset](https://www.sportmediaset.mediaset.it/mercato/sfida-southampton-inter-per-onuachu_39458177-202102k.shtml), as cited by [RumorsTransfersNews24/7](https://twitter.com/rumorstransfers)on Twitter, Southampton and the Irons are both set to bid for Onuachu.

Capped [17 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/nationalmannschaft/spieler/272855/verein_id/3444) by Nigeria, the powerful forward, labelled a [‘goal king’](https://www.goal.com/en-ae/news/fashanu-genk-forward-onuachu-is-nigerias-new-goal-king/1kzdyqtmzp4411r9iajz13slry) by John Fashanu, scored [29 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272855/plus/0/saison/2020/wettbewerb/BE1/verein/1184) in 33 Jupiler Pro League appearances last season.

So far this term, Onuachu has amassed [11 strikes](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdaten/spieler/272855) in 15 outings across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £19.8million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272855)), a January move for the Nigerian would be an expensive one.

However, David Moyes remains in need of [additional firepower](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) to supplement Michail Antonio.

Unsurprisingly [very strong](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/122182/Show/Paul-Onuachu) in the air, Onuachu would provide another method of attack for the Hammers and should be under serious consideration.
