# Virals: Teammates hail Ben Johnson following impressive Everton display

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/18/pundit-in-awe-of-top-class-west-ham-star-angelo-ogbonna/) youngster [Ben Johnson](https://readwestham.com/2021/09/22/virals-ben-johnson-set-to-be-offered-new-west-ham-contract/) has been receiving praise from fellow Irons following the victory over Everton.

The 21-year-old right-back was asked to deputise with Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks both [sidelined](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/october/01-october/team-news-hammers-waiting-coufal-and-fredericks-fitness) through injury.

Despite [failing to come off the bench](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-johnson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/468002/saison/2021/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/379) in the Premier League prior to the clash at Goodison Park, Johnson stepped into the breach manfully and earned the plaudits from teammates on [social media](https://www.instagram.com/p/CVIpYxbD-Vo/?utm_source=ig_embed).

Elsewhere on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/tomassoucek28/status/1449769797491773445?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1449769797491773445%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.liverpoolecho.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Ffootball-news%2Fsoucek-west-ham-injury-update-21886706), Tomas Soucek had the scars to prove West Ham had fought hard for their three points.

Johnson completed three successful clearances, one interception and one tackle whilst earning a [7.20 Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/ben-johnson/914412) on Merseyside.

Often utilised in [various positions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-johnson/leistungsdaten/spieler/468002) across the defence, the London-born starlet is a right-back by trade and would’ve relished the rare opportunity to star in his favoured position.

## READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Out of contract at the end of the season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-johnson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/468002)), Johnson is seemingly fighting for a prolonged future at the London Stadium.

An [incredibly versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-johnson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/468002) operator, David Moyes would likely be desperate to keep the youngster with the squad, albeit ambitions to play regular first-team football may prevail. \
[Valued at £2.70million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ben-johnson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/468002), West Ham may have to cash-in in on their academy graduate should no agreement be forthcoming.
