# Virals: West Ham ‘closely interested’ in FC Copenhagen striker Jonas Wind

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/15/pundits-lavish-praise-on-west-ham-star-declan-rice/) are believed to be ‘closely interested’ in signing FC Copenhagen striker [Jonas Wind](https://readwestham.com/2021/01/27/west-ham-keen-on-signing-jonas-wind/).

Irons’ boss David Moyes is expected to re-enter the market for a centre-forward after failing to [replace Sebastien Haller](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55576847) in either the January or summer transfer window.

That has left Michail Antonio as the [only recognised frontman](https://www.whufc.com/teams/first-team/squad) in the Hammers’ squad.

According to a report from [Jeunes Footeux](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-closely-interested-22-year-old-fills-big-gap-squad-club-will-want-e20m/), as cited by [Sport Witness](https://twitter.com/Sport_Witness/status/1448636368553394183) on Twitter, West Ham could target a 22-year-old Danish ace.

The report claims that Newcastle United are also keen but the Superligaen side will want in excess of €20million (£17million) for the [12-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonas-wind/nationalmannschaft/spieler/391004/verein_id/3436) star.

Wind has backed up a remarkable [15 goal and eight assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonas-wind/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/391004) 2020/21 campaign with [eight strikes and five assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonas-wind/leistungsdaten/spieler/391004) in just 18 appearances this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Valued at £6.3million and under contract in Denmark until 2025 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jonas-wind/marktwertverlauf/spieler/391004)), the mooted £17million demand is reasonable value for money.

Now a regular feature at the senior international level, Wind recently scored the [only goal of the game](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1516176/Live/International-FIFA-World-Cup-2021-2022-Faroe-Islands-Denmark) as the Danes edged past the Faroe Islands.

An out and out centre-forward, the 6’2 Copenhagen powerhouse is noted for possessing [strong aerial ability and stamina](https://en.soccerwiki.org/player.php?pid=97888) – two attributes that would endear Moyes to the signing.
