# Virals: West Ham ‘closely following’ Croatian wonderkid Roko Simic

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/15/virals-west-ham-closely-interested-in-fc-copenhagen-striker-jonas-wind/) are believed to be ‘closely’ watching the development of Croatian wonderkid Roko Simic.

Son of [legendary defender](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/dario-simic/profil/spieler/2540) Dario, the 18-year-old striker would appear to be a chip off the old block when it comes to ability.

Already a [prolific goalscorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roko-simic/nationalmannschaft/spieler/658693/verein_id/11943) at the Under 21 international level under former [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/10/15/otd-emile-heskey-netted-a-perfect-hat-trick-against-derby-county/) ace Igor Biscan, Simic is attracting attention from across Europe.

According to a report from [Jeunes Footeux](https://www.jeunesfooteux.com/West-Ham-Tottenham-Leipzig-Real-Madrid-Monaco-Roko-Simic-tres-surveille-en-Europe-_a49510.html), as cited on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Jeunesfooteux/status/1448923630432292885), the Hammers, Tottenham, RB Leipzig, Real Madrid and AS Monaco are all keen on the centre-forward.

The report suggests scouts have been ‘comparing him to Erling Haaland’ following a string of [stellar displays](https://www.sofascore.com/player/roko-simic/1048950) whilst out on loan.

Plying his trade away from parent club Red Bull Salzburg for FC Liefering, Simic has scored [eight goals in 11 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roko-simic/leistungsdaten/spieler/658693) across all competitions this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Already [valued at £1.80million](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roko-simic/marktwertverlauf/spieler/658693) and under contract in Austria until [2025](https://www.redbullsalzburg.at/de/en/fc-red-bull-salzburg/news/saison_2021_22/roko-simic-extends-contract.html?rm=app), signing the Croatian teenager would already represent a lofty expenditure.

Seemingly enjoying a [whirlwind](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/roko-simic/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/658693) early senior career, Simic has all the potential to be a star of the future given the elite levels of interest.

Meanwhile, it would appear to be part of the modus operandi for David Moyes to give youthful centre-forwards a chance as a report from [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/2884047/2021/10/12/freddie-potts-rice-west-ham-father-footsteps/) claims the club are hoping to tie down 16-year old Divin Mubama.
