# Fabrizio Romano predicts ‘open race’ for West Ham target Andrea Belotti

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/11/otd-west-ham-obliterated-sunderland-6-0-at-upton-park/) look to have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Torino striker [Andrea Belotti](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/08/virals-west-ham-reportedly-lining-up-move-for-italy-star-andrea-belotti/).

The 27-year-old has seemingly [been on the radar](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/west-ham-favourites-belotti-transfer-torino-mourinho) at the London Stadium for some time now and the Hammers could make their move in the near future.

Talk of a potential move away from the Serie A club has intensified in recent weeks as the Italy international edges closer towards a [2022 contract expiry](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/profil/spieler/167727).

Now, reputable journalist Fabrizio Romano has taken to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1447520510665965569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1447520510665965569%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-1482879209848388209.ampproject.net%2F2109272305001%2Fframe.html) to claim that there will be an ‘open race’ to sign the forward next summer.

Romano cites Inter Milan and Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg as interested parties in the [39 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/nationalmannschaft/spieler/167727/verein_id/3376) ace.

Belotti missed the opening weeks of the new season with a knee injury on the back of [playing a major role](https://www.sofascore.com/player/andrea-belotti/220223) in Italy’s summer European Championship success.

Since returning to fitness the powerful frontman has [scored once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/leistungsdaten/spieler/167727) in two league outings.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

With an impressive [151 career goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/167727), Belotti is a proven operator at the top level and one West Ham should be all over as a soon to be free agent.

Only now entering the prime of an [impressive career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/erfolge/spieler/167727), signing the Italian to challenge Michail Antonio would be a huge coup ahead of the likely elite competition.

Valued at £31.5million ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andrea-belotti/marktwertverlauf/spieler/167727)), the club would be saving a fortune on a new striker this way – albeit a temporary January solution may still be necessary.
