# Virals: West Ham ‘testing the waters’ for Alexis Sanchez transfer

[West Ham](https://readwestham.com/2021/10/11/virals-lukasz-fabianski-receives-emotional-international-send-off/) have reportedly ‘tested the waters’ regarding the possible capture of Inter Milan forward [Alexis Sanchez](https://readwestham.com/2021/06/03/virals-west-ham-reportedly-in-battle-to-sign-alexis-sanchez/).

The Hammers have been [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/west-ham-inter-milan-transfer-alexis-sanchez) with the 32-year-old previously and could be an option as the Serie A champions seek a solution for the Chile ace.

Signed from Manchester United in 2020 on a three-year deal ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12043323/alexis-sanchez-joins-inter-milan-on-three-year-deal-from-manchester-united)), Sanchez has [scored 11 times and provided 19 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/40433) in 74 appearances for I Nerazzurri.

According to a report from [Tuttomercatoweb](https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/editoriale/vlahovic-ecco-tutti-gli-scenari-fiorentina-oltre-a-berardi-occhi-anche-su-cabral-e-faivre-milan-e-pioli-avanti-insieme-fino-al-2024-inter-sanchez-vers-1594152), as cited by [Mick](https://twitter.com/geoffpeters224)on Twitter, West Ham have looked into the possibility of a January swoop.

> West Ham allegedly want to sign Alexis Sanchez in January, apparently we want to sign the Inter Milan attacker, the Serie A champions want to find a way out for the Chilean international.\

The report claims that a move away from the San Siro for the [139 times capped](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/nationalmannschaft/spieler/40433/verein_id/3700) star is ‘taking shape’ as Inter look to lessen their wage bill.

So far this season Sanchez has [assisted one goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdaten/spieler/40433) in four substitute appearances across all competitions.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Signing a striker in January is a must for David Moyes.

Despite making a strong start to the new campaign on the back of the [superb form](https://www.sofascore.com/player/michail-antonio/47772) of Michail Antonio, the Irons still rely too heavily on the injury-prone ace.

Albeit [hit by injuries](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/verletzungen/spieler/40433) himself more recently, the Chilean would represent a worthwhile short-term solution ahead of a summer acquisition.

Valued at £6.75million and under contract in Italy until 2023 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/marktwertverlauf/spieler/40433)), any deal for the highly regarded ex-Arsenal man would have to include heavily reduced rates in order to make financial sense to the Hammers.
